Technical Poster Presentation: A Study on the Spatial Variance in the Mechanics and Microstructure of Heart Valves
Abstract
This is a poster presentation and talk I gave in Dublin, Ireland. The presentation connects our mechanical studies on the regional variation to our microstructural, polarization-based analysis system. I showed how, if we are able to integrate this valuable mechanical and structural data, we could provide a more complete understanding of the structure-function relationship throughout the domain of the heart valve. Aside from my presentation, the conference was an incredible experience. I learned about innovative new research routes and new medical devices in translational testing and clinical trials. I’m very thankful to the Institute for Biomedical Engineering, Science and Technology (IBEST) and to the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) here at OU for their help funding my travel and helping me to attend this incredible conference.
